Job Description
Overall Role Purpose
- Participate in the proof of concept application development lifecycle and help to support and maintain the current application portfolio
- Deliver to successful completion identified initiatives (global or regional) that will deliver operational quality in the Data Management team
- Running projects for both transitions (3-6 months) and performance improvement initiatives
- Analyse and design technology-driven and/or automated solutions that support service line requirements
- Analyse and design process improvements in the designated process areas that deliver measurable and/or qualitative benefits
- Prepare, update and regularly review all relevant process map documentation for the process and the supporting/enabling functions
- Assess innovative ideas generated from an Ideas Management program relative to benefit and cost
- Support the Data Management team in cultivating culture of continuous improvement and innovation
Specific Role Context
- Strong technical, inter-personal and communication skills are required in order to support the existing Operations reporting toolsets on a global scale
- Possess a solid understanding of the group’s operations process and strategic challenges to find the most suitable business solution for the groups’ initiatives
- The incumbent has the freedom to think and act within the agreed project scope and to propose enhancements and new capability for the existing solutions considering alternative technologies if necessary
- Understand the capability and the architecture of the existing prototype solutions with the ability to make changes whenever it is necessary
- Responsibility for the prototype applications availability, and ensure that those function well and support the business needs
- Enhance and modify the existing tool based on changing requirements to make sure it is up to date with the business requirements
- Ensure the architecture and admin guides of the prototype applications are correctly documented
Key activities
- Execute business process improvement initiatives with employees, relevant stakeholders and process owners
- Provide effective and efficient support to the Data Management VP to ensure the smooth running of the department
- Ensure that countries associated with the Data Management team interests are reflected within all phases of improvement
- To liaise with external IT vendors, associated countries and Consultants
- Understanding the different processes used throughout the data management environments.
- Identifying/ leveraging best practices already in use in the finance operations community
- Designing practical and effective solutions to address improvement opportunities – both cost and performance
- Successfully implement improvement initiatives with Finance and HR Business Partners
- Strive as a SME on process improvements/ standardization methodology
- Provide consultative services to both Countries and internal data management staff
- Ability to relate to cross-cultural processes and Country sensitivities.
- Responsible for process documentations (i.e. process maps)
- Maintain strong client relationships
- Be able to influence decisions / actions through provision of value added inputs into the organization’s business processes

- Extensive automation, programming and database experience with primary focus on web development
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and planning skills
- Broad-based computer knowledge with a good understanding of information systems
- Well-developed prioritising and analytical skills with strong business acumen
- Solid knowledge of DHL Express core applications
- Diplomatic, tactful, patient and sensitive to cultural differences
- Good in establishing working relationships and developing personal contacts
- Good communication in English, both oral and written
Expected years of experience
- 5 years of working experience preferably in a Shared Services environment focusing on process outsourcing or improvement with emphasis on Business Intelligence (BI), Data Warehousing, Business Analysis, Automation and Software Development
- 3 years of experience in Application Development and Support
- Expertise in Java with more programming languages experience with preference of .NET
- Primary focus on web based technologies including server and client side languages and standards (Spring MVC, Servlets, HTML, XML, Javascript, CSS, jQuery, Bootstrap, AngularJS)
- Advanced SQL skills and expertise in one or more database engines with preference of My SQL, MS SQL, Teradata and Oracle
- Previous experienced in DHL with a comprehensive knowledge of DHL Express Network will be an added advantage
Educational Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree holder preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics or Engineering related discipline
