My childhood is filled with fond memories of having small talks with my father when we used to go out for a stroll after dinner. He spoke of having a positive mindset and giving the best in whatever we chose to do. It was my father who inspired me always to follow my heart and believe in myself. Today, I share an amicable relationship with my family that includes my husband and two young kids. My husband, in particular, has been my biggest supporter, inspiration, and most honest critic. Whether it is something related to work or family, I always look up to him for the dedication he puts into everything. Although it becomes quite trying at times to manage work and personal life, I’m lucky to have a supportive husband.

We have clearly segregated our personal and professional lives and the time we invest in each. Drawing a line between work and personal life has been the simple formula that has helped me in balancing the two. This also ensures that we devote a big part of our weekend to our kids. Attributes like discipline, consistency, and honesty have played a major role in balancing my work and personal life throughout these years. My family is the biggest source of strength for me. I cannot imagine even a day without them. 

I try to be mindful when I’m with my family or loved ones and at work by avoiding all. I recommend everyone to do the same. When I started my career, facing rejection in the first few job interviews was one of the biggest setbacks in my life. It was unexpected since I was confident of making it through, which did not happen. However, it inspired me to work even harder, become more focused and keep myself updated with knowledge of the industry. I read a lot and took refuge in books. Eventually, I was able to come out of it stronger. But I learned an important lesson from these initial failures - you need to embrace failures as the stepping stones to success. 

The scenario at workplaces today has changed quite extensively. Modern workplaces and entrepreneurs are all up for equality at the workplace, and the instances of disparity at work have come down. I know the scenario is not the same everywhere, but I’ve been fortunate enough to have not witnessed any significant incidents of disparity on the gender front in the workplace.

I believe every woman is strong enough to stand for herself. The only superpower I wish I could get, even if it was for just a day, would be to somehow make every woman realize this and make her believe that she herself is a superwoman. She can do what she desires, and she doesn’t need to be bogged down by societal norms. Women are equal to their male counterparts in every aspect of work.
