The pandemic's most pressing effect that will be felt for years to come would be an increase in unemployability. The skill gap that our generation is facing will only push employers farther away. This alarming scenario calls for planned action and SCIKEY team decided to take a step in the direction.
The survey was designed to highlight the important skills in demand in the IT industry vis the level of proficiency the professionals hold in the same. The study revealed a major skill gap that needs to be filled to minimise job losses in the future. The study also revealed this gap for soft skills which the individuals often ignore.
A mixed-method design approach was used to conduct the research -followed by an exploratory sequential design of mixed-method that led to the collection of qualitative data before collection of quantitative data. In the initial step, a pool of future functional skills in IT were identified through qualitative research and a questionnaire was developed for its quantitative analysis. The questionnaire also involved incorporating questions for measurement of behavioral competencies from the psychometric assessment tool of SCIKEY.
The data collected was analysed by our experts using statistical software and the insights obtained are drafted in this report for the consumption of our readers.
